iPostcode Lite - FREE!
Apr 08, 2010 at 03:21 PM
Today we are pleased to announce the release of "iPostcode Lite", a free, browser based application for the iPhone that displays the nearest postcodes to your current location.

The application runs completely inside your browser so there is nothing to install or download.  Simply point your browser (Mobile Safari) to this URL :

http://www.ipostcode.mobi

and you're set.

The browser shows the estimated 3 nearest postcodes to your location with a background colour to give an indication of the accuracy of the location; red being poor accuracy, orange is medium and green reflects the best accuracy.  Also displayed is your current location (in longitude and latitude) and the accuracy of your location in metres.

The list will update as your location changes to always show the closest three postcodes.

In order to make the best use of the iPhone screen we recommend adding an icon to your application using the '+' symbol at the bottom of the browser window, and then choosing 'Add to Home Screen' :

This will create an icon on your iPhone which you can click at any time, just like any other App.

And as a bonus, it also removes the address bar and tool bar from the top and bottom of the screen giving you much more screen space.

If you like iPostcode Lite, why not buy the full version from the iTunes App Store?  The major differences are :

  • Installs as a full App so reduces loading time.
  • Faster updates as your location changes.
  • Adjustable sensitivity to location changes to control how often the list updates.
  • A configurable number of postcodes to display from 1,2,3,5,10 or 20.
  • Click on a postcode and display data from that postcode in Google Maps, UpMyStreet or any other URL of your choosing.
  • Removal of our logo and App Store graphics from result display.

Available here on the App Store :
