Mercator GeoSystems Ltd are pleased to announce the launch of their new map-based photo sharing service, Snap It-Map It. Snap It-Map It allows users of iPhones, iPads and the iPod Touch running iOS5 to quickly and easily share their photographs on a map allowing friends, family or co-workers to not only see what the photo is of, but also when and where it was taken. This additional information really gives pictures a whole load of extra context.
Snap It-Map It is available today from the Apple App Store and comes in two editions; "Free", which supports all the basic functionality described above and is completely free of charge, and "Pro", which supports higher quality images and also allows images to kept on our servers for longer. In addition, until the end of 2011, we will also be donating £1 for every copy if Snap It-Map It "Pro" sold to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust (CF Trust), so please, consider buying the Pro edition if you can.
Photo's uploaded to Snap It-Map It have a unique URL assigned to them that can then be quickly and easily shared using the built in Twitter, Facebook, email and SMS sharing tools or via any other method that suits you. If you register as a user (it's free) then you can also re-share any of your pictures you have uploaded or choose to delete them if you wish.
Photos can have a description and tags (keywords) associated with them to make it easy for people to find your pictures as well. In addition you can create custom 'feeds' that allow you to share an RSS feed of your pictures with people via their email program or dedicated RSS feed reader. These feeds can be heavily customised to only include pictures within certain dates, geographical boundaries or that have certain tags attached to them. For example you could create a feed of pictures taken between the start and end dates of your holiday that are tagged with the word 'holiday' and share it with people so they can get updated automatically whenever you add a new photo that fits these criteria. The possibilities are limitless! You can also add your pictures to Google Earth in the same way via the KML feed tool which allows the same customisations as the RSS feed described above. Cool huh? We think so. To find out more go to http://www.snapitmapit.com today or download from the App Store now :
